Continuous improvement is essential for all companies to grow, and it is the same for the individual employee. Electronics training courses reinforce best manufacturing practices, equip production crews with skill sets that help them advance through the ranks of the electronics industry.
IPC Standards have been adopted throughout the electronics manufacturing industry as a guide for helping to manufacture high reliability electronics. When implemented IPC Standards give a baseline for expectations, and prescribe materials, methods and acceptance criteria for suppliers and manufacturers of electronics products. IPC certification plays a key role in bringing value and consistency to the electronics industry.
IPC Training and Certification programs, and other Solder Training provided by Quick Turn Training and Consulting helps electronics manufacturers to ensure new employees with limited skills get the proper tools and guidance to be successful. Electronics manufacturing training programs are not just for new employees, advanced technicians benefit greatly from these courses as well, whether its learning different techniques for soldering and inspection, or just being exposed to the mission critical criteria of the standard to become more familiar with the criteria.
Recognized around the world, IPC Certification and Training programs, guarantee that the candidates that successfully complete the programs will have a baseline of knowledge that is the same no matter where in the world the class is taken. This establishes a launching point for all acceptance criteria in the electronics industry to be universally applied.
IPC Training and Certification Programs are derived from the IPC Standards approved by leaders of the electronics industry. The courses are delivered in a classroom setting by Certified IPC Trainers. Candidates that successfully complete all testing are issued an industry recognized certification that is valid for 2 years.
Once a production crew has been certified to the IPC standards you have Certified Specialists discriminating the quality of the work in process, and it becomes easier to produce high quality products. No more waiting for inspectors to find the issues. These Specialists will know how to identify defective product through all stages of production. If defects are created, by having a highly trained and certified crew it is less likely the defects will be overlooked, because of the familiarity with the criteria the production crew has obtained through IPC Certification programs.
IPC Training and Certification programs are the best way to assure your customers of the skill level of your workers and the commitment to quality held within the organization.
At Quick Turn Training and Consulting (QTTC) we know a class is only as good as the instructor. There has to be a passion for teaching and patience for learning to be successful as an instructor. Our President Zach Quick, has 20 years of experience in soldering, rework, manufacturing-crew training, inspection and test. While gaining so much experience on the production floor and already having extensive knowledge with multiple IPC Standards, Zach was asked to take the step from being a long time Certified IPC Specialist to Certified IPC Trainer, and absolutely fell in love with conducting IPC Training Programs. With over 12 years of experience conducting IPC Training courses such as JSTD001 and IPC-A-610 our founder is at home in the classroom and thrives on teaching beginner operators the best manufacturing practices.
It is important for the instructor to have immense knowledge of the standards they teach, and QTTC has some of the best trainers in the industry that these IPC Standards have just saturated through to their core.
Over the years there have been many opportunities to learn from some of the greats in the industry and the trainers at QTTC have a deep desire to continue to teach time tested methods the way they were intended. Quick Turn Training and Consulting keeps classes small to maximize instructor availability to students, because it is important for students to know the instructor is available and willing to help.

No, IPC Training and all other electronics training provided here at QTTC is for any candidate that serves the electronics manufacturing industry. It is not required but preferred to have previous hands-on soldering and/or inspection experience to take the IPC-J-STD-001 for CIS due to the hands-on soldering portion of that course.
IPC-J-STD-001 Training for CIS is great for operators, soldering technicians, inspectors, and even engineering and supervision groups. The most benefits will be reaped by the soldering technicians and inspection operators that handle the soldered electronic hardware on a daily basis. The Certified IPC Specialist is an employee with an industry Certified skillset that is able to achieve acceptable workmanship for your customers with limited variation in quality.
It varies depending on the course IPC-J-STD-001 Initial Certification courses for both CIS and CIT are 5-days. For CIS, the courses are modularized and can be taken as individual units rather than the whole class, and the length of the course could be as little as one-day on up to 5-days. Recertification classes can take up to 3 days for both CIS and CIT candidates.
Certified IPC Trainer-
An individual that has demonstrated a certain level of knowledge and ability to read, navigate, apply, and interpret the standard to which they are certified. CIT are also responsible for conducting training for CIS candidates.
Certified IPC Specialist-
An individual that has an industry recognized Certified Skillset. They have met the minimum requirements to achieve a specific level of competence with the industry standard to which they are certified.
IPC-A-610- Acceptability Electronic Assemblies is the most commonly used standard for inspection in electronics manufacturing. This standard takes an in-depth look at the acceptance criteria for the 3 product classes of soldered electronics, component types, wired connections etc. This standard is the most popular of all IPC standards because of the picture-book type of presentation of defect and acceptance criteria. It clearly depicts minimal acceptance conditions and defect conditions for operators to refer to easily when on the production floor. The IPC-A-610 has been embraced by inspection teams around the world due to the ease of use the standard offers. To gain an industry recognition of the expert knowledge your company has with the IPC-A-610 the individuals doing the work must be certified. The certification proves your company’s dedication to quality but employing certified experts.
The course Presentations and educational content is conducted remotely by the instructor through Skype meetings. Candidates will log in to their IPC account to complete online assessments through the IPC EDGE Learning Management System and are monitored by a combination of Artificial Intelligence, live proctors, and video/audio recording analysis to monitor candidates as they sit for the certification exams. Unlike the Online Exams modality, Remote Proctoring Exams do not require a proctor physically present while testing. Candidates choosing to sit for their examination via this method will have to pay an additional fee.
From the IPC Policies and Procedures document:
